An exceptional impressionistic painting titled 'The Difficult Passage' depicting an afternoon along the River with Figures throughout by Jules René Hervé. Here the scene is set on a summer day with what seems to be children wading through the water to catch up with the figure in the distance. Fields are depicted in the landscape within a tree-hugged setting. Hervé is known as a painter of the scenes of the Parisian life. The Paris captured on Hervé's canvas is the city of poetry, the “City of Lights”. By looking at each brushstroke, is like seeing through Herve's eyes this city of poetry in a mesmerizing impressionist manner. The piece is signed by the artist lower right and on verso, with gallery literature with artist's bio and work information attached to the verso. It comes housed in a wonderful wood carved antique gold tone frame with original name plate affixed bottom center and hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Condition: The painting is in excellent condition with very light wear from age and comes displayed in an original antique that shows some ordinary wear from age, and minor imperfections in line with the period (please refer to the listing pictures for details).
