A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Jean Salabet. Salabet was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to those of Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard, and Edouard Cortes. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see "Boulevard de la Madeleine" in Paris. A busy street sight filled with life on a crisp Fall day with people walking alongside the bustling cars and trolleys of Paris. People are depicted throughout the streets and the lights from the cafes and stores flicker and reflect on the wet ground, illuminating the scene in a magical way. The details are magnificent as Salabet captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. This painting is signed by the artist lower right and it comes housed in an original antique wood carved frame ready to be displayed with hanging wire on verso.
Condition: The painting has some light wear from age and is in overall good condition besides minor in-paint areas and a very small professional repair on the canvas upper right section (additional pictures or under black light could be provided upon request).
