A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist, Jean Salabet. Salabet was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to those of Jules Herve, Antoine Blanchard and Edouard Cortes. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see "Place de l'Opéra" by "Le Grand Hotel" with a flower vendor walking along side the bustling cars. Many figures are depicted as the lights from the cafes and stores illuminate in a magical way. People are scattered throughout between the tree lined street. The details are magnificent as Salabet captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. This painting is signed lower left by the artist and it comes housed in a vintage gold tone decorated giltwood frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.
Condition: The painting has some light wear from age and is in overall good condition besides minor in-paint areas around the canvas, and a very small professional repair on the canvas on the middle lower section towards the right side.
