CHROMATIC PERSONALITY
Logan Ledford - August 21 to September 12, 2018
Lilac Gallery New York is pleased to present “Chromatic Personality” an exhibition of works by Logan Ledford, Louisiana's contemporary color theory artist from August 21 to September 12, 2018, presenting a wonderful new collection of beautiful avant-garde abstract paintings.
Logan is able to create a completely unusual and powerful body of work by using thick textured paint and mixed media against a single toned color background. Her abstract paintings display a unique design with wonderful attention to detail, utilizing minimal compositions with acrylic paint, liquid gold leaf, acrylic sheets, and vinyl. Simple natural beauty and elements of nature are the starting point for her work, filtering through emotions in their sporadic color and organic form with grid-like or centered circle compositions. Sensations of a particular moment in their purest element drawn from everyday objects, like a pallet of makeup from a woman's purse, the plastic of a Barbie doll, or clothing from a crowd of people, are the inspirations of this series.
Working on mostly larger canvases, the presence of these pop pieces make a dramatic statement; but once looking closer at the details, the viewer is able to discover exciting, rich textures by the use of mixed media. Logan's passion for schematically designing each canvas depicting geometric shapes over and over again, mimicking simple, recognizable forms is a joy to discover. Each canvas is repetitive, but each individual and unique with its own theme. Standing in front of her paintings is like journeying into a very strong world of color, where the senses are completely motivated, exciting us to discover Logan's unique patterns seamlessly with the imagination.
